Volatiles and Fluids in Subduction Zones

Study areas

Since 2007, the regional focus of C2 is the the volcanic front of the Southern Volcanic Zone (SVZ) in Chile (32-42°S), and the Argentinian backarc. Building up on the findings of phase I (7/2001 - 6/2004), which was focused on the southern Central America margin (Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama), and phase II (7/2004-6/2008), during which the regional scope was expanded to the northern segment of the Central American subduction zone (El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala), we work towards a global synthesis of volatile fluxes through subduction zones.
